Miriam van Rijsingen

dr. Miriam van Rijsingen (1965) is specialized in Feminist/Gender Studies in Art History in the context of Art Theory, Historiography and the boundaries of Art History (with Aesthetics, Semiotics, Cultural Studies and New Media Studies). She has published on a variety of connected subjects, specifically on the representation of the body in Western Art, spectatorship, subjectivity and the gaze. Currently she is working on the topic of art and anatomy in contemporary art. This project is associated with ‘The mediated body’, a interdisciplinary research project at Maastricht University. Regularly she coordinates a workshop on the practice of exhibitions and presentations. Exhibitions include Koppeltekens (Amsterdam 1993), Exitborders.com (Amsterdam 1999), Sonsbeeld (Arnhem 2001)
