Netty van Osch

ceramic installations and drawings

Netty van Osch searches for a new grammar in classical arrangements. The installations and objects show the efforts of searching. They are revealing the complex relation of the expression of the concept with the construction in materials. It appears to be an almost educational confrontation with the Human as the solver of the problem.

Netty van Osch has made impressive objects of ceramics, based on drawings she made of children with their cuddly toys, during her residency at the European Ceramic Work centre. The lineair design of the toys and the realism of the child expose the symbiotic relation of the child and her toy, giving the work ambiguous meaning. She became fascinated with black-and-white images in knitting books form the 60s and 70s, for their simple settings with a grammar of their own. She has researched ways to transmit these photographs as 3-dimensional photgraphs on ceramic objects.

Netty van Osch (1962) lives and works in Rotterdam. She studied monumental design at the art academy of Den Bosch and did many international work periods in ceramic centres (ao. Kecskemet-Hungary, European Ceramic Workcentre - Den Bosch). She exhibits in both national and international shows.
